Good night for most of the locals
Sandy Creek came back from their bye and cruised, Our Lady of Mercy and Whitewater improved to 2-1 and McIntosh secured their first win of the season in dramatic fashion. Only Starr’s Mill fell short to Alcovy, losing 47-31.
The Patriots (2-0) hosted Eagle’s Landing and won 49-0. Mike Hilton scored the first three touchdowns (one yard run, 67 yard run, 51 yard pass). JaQuay Williams had two touchdowns (38 yard pass, 69 yard pass), while Demare Kitt and Kelvin Weems added touchdowns.
“Overall, the kids played good and hard, but we made way too many penalties,” said Sandy Creek head coach Chip Walker. “We’ll go back to work and hope to get better each week.”
Whitewater (2-1) and Union Grove were tied 10-10 late and the Wildcats were able to drive in the final minute and kick the winning field goal in the waning seconds.
Our Lady of Mercy (2-1) beat St. Francis 42-14. Adam Rose rushed for 137 yards and three touchdowns and Rashard Fant added two touchdowns in the win.
McIntosh trailed Jones Conty 22-14 at the half, tied it at 22-22 in the third quarter, fell behind 28-22 at the start of the fourth quarter and then took a 29-28 lead with 12 seconds left.
Halfway through the second quarter, Starr’s Mill tied Alcovy 14-14, but the Panthers soon fell behind and could not keep up. Alcovy was up 27-17 at the half and won 47-31.
Northgate (3-0) beat Ola 42-14. It was the third straight game that saw the Vikings score over 40 points.
Newnan (1-1) lost to Peachtree Ridge 28-16.
