Chiefettes dance team place 7th in nation in High Kick
At the UDA National Dance Team Championship held at Walt Disney World, the McIntosh High School Chiefettes dance team made school history.
They finished 7th in the country in High Kick and 18th in Pom. The Chiefettes have been attending the UDA National competition for five years, and this is their first top 10 finish.
This 2-day competition features the 'best of the best' dance teams from across theUnited States who must qualify to attend this event.
"We are not just representing McIntosh High School" said Coach Carmen Yarbrough. "The Chiefettes are the only high school dance team in Georgia to compete at Nationals."
The team is comprised of 19 girls. Unlike many high school teams with short seasons, the Chiefettes train and practice near-year round to prepare for their competition season.
"We are fortunate to have strong support from our school administration and parents" added Coach Yarbrough.
The Chiefettes will wrap up their season as they host and compete in the UDA Georgia Dance Championship on Feb. 19. This event begins at 9:30 a.m. and is being held at the McIntosh High School gym.
