The Lady Chiefs have beaten Sandy Creek and lost to Fayette by one. For a team to be 22-3 and be a footnote is a joke!
Beating the two top seeds in the region tourney, which is what McIntosh is likely going to have to do, and beat Fayette for the first time in ... at least seven years by the last records I could find ... would qualify as a shocker. They may have only lost by 1 point a few weeks ago but they also lost to Fayette by 31 earlier this season. And Fayette has been playing with a serious fire in their belly ever since.
Don't get me wrong. I like the team - they play good defense, slow things down to their speed and can flat out shoot, but they have a long road to hoe to win a region title. I think they'll be plenty happy with a state tournament berth, especially if their opponent wants to overlook a three or four seed in the first round.
If they make the region final against Fayette, I expect a game closer to the one point loss rather than a blowout and anything can happen. Should be fun to follow.
