The area tournaments for wrestling took place last weekend and numerous local wrestlers will advance to the state sectionals this week.

Basketball teams come back from break seeking region wins

The local basketball teams came back from the holiday break last weekend and played games, many of them against region opponents.

The basketball season will slow down a bit over the holidays but there is a great game on tap right before the break. McIntosh will host Sandy Creek on Saturday (4:30 and 6 p.m.). Both games should be competitive but the girls game has the potential to be great.

While several local schools were still inflicted with football fever, the basketball season is underway and teams are hoping to build momentum heading into holiday tournaments.

Patriots advance, Whitewater and Landmark fall

Three locals teams played tonight for a chance to go to the GHSA state championships next weekend. One team made it. Sandy Creek beat Monroe Area 35-0, while Whitewater lost to Gainesville 28-14 and Landmark Christian lost to Prince Avenue 32-22.
