McIntosh basketball teams sweep East Coweta

Perfection is a difficult task to accomplish on any level of athletics but so far the Lady Chiefs of McIntosh High School remained perfect (6-0) at home with a 51-20 victory over the Lady Indians of East Coweta High School Saturday evening in McIntosh gymnasium.
Patriots capitalize on big plays, beat East Coweta 31-7
Sandy Creek hosted East Coweta in their first home game of the season and, despite the score, most would agree it could have gone better.
"It was about as ugly as it could get," Sandy Creek head coach Chip Walker said. "We're happy with the win, but we have a lot of things to work on and many of them were pointed out tonight."
Teams try to just keep winning

Thursday night football this week for the Creek and this one feels like a “Must See.” These two teams have tangled twice before and split the games.

The boys All Area Lacrosse team was recently announced by the Fayette County Lacrosse Club
Second round matches set for soccer teams
Seven local boys soccer teams will continue the state playoffs next Tuesday.
State baseball playoffs start tomorrow
Barring bad weather, the state baseball playoffs start tomorrow for five local teams.
Lots of local winners in first round of soccer playoffs
The state soccer playoffs started Tuesday night with play in the AAAAA boys bracket and the AAAA boys bracket.
Several Newnan and East Coweta boys make AAAAA track championships
Newnan and East Coweta’s boys and girls track teams ran in the AAAAA West Sectionals at McEachern.
Qualifiers for the boys were:
Long jump - Jalen Bolton, Newnan, 5th, 21’8”
Shot put - Willie Holloway, East Coweta, 1st, 52’8”
Triple jump - Jalen Bolton, Newnan, 7th, 44’11.25”
110 meter hurdles - David Singleton, East Coweta, 6th, 14.84
East Coweta and Newnan track athletes run well at region meet
East Coweta and Newnan had numerous athletes perform well at the region 2-AAAAA track meet last week. Those scoring points for their teams were:
Teams punch tickets for state soccer playoffs
The level of soccer in the area is obviously very high. Fans would be hard pressed to remember a year that did not feature a team from Fayette County in the final or winning a championship. However, there is no such thing as a sure thing and the local coaches in region 3-AAAA were certain to remind their players of that when they opened the region playoffs Tuesday night.
