Cross Country

The Landmark Christian School girls won the Class A cross country championship at Carrollton last Saturday. It was their sixth cross country title in school history and their first since 2007.

Fresh off winning county titles, the Whitewater girls and McIntosh boys cross country teams won titles at the region 3-AAAA championships.

McIntosh’s boys won the 2012 Fayette County cross country championship, while Starr’s Mill took second, Sandy Creek placed third, Our Lady of Mercy finished in fourth and Whitewater placed fifth.

McIntosh’s boys cross country team won the Sandy Creek Mid-Week Classic last week, with Sandy Creek taking second and Fayette County placing fifth.

The Atlanta Classic, hosted by Chapel Hill High School, took place at Clinton Farms last Saturday and several local cross country teams competed.

Sandy Creek hosted their annual Fall Classic cross country meet last Saturday.

Whitewater’s girls won the event and were followed by Landmark Christian (2nd), McIntosh (4th), Starr’s Mill (5th), Sandy Creek (7th) and Fayette County (11th).

McIntosh’s boys and girls won the AAAA divisions of the Carrollton Orthopaedic Invitational.

Our Lady of Mercy’s boys placed 11th in the Class A-AAA division of the Clara Bowl Invitational at Berry College on Saturday. Landmark Christian placed 19th.

Runners from all elementary and middle schools in Fayette County will compete for team and individual honors at the second annual PTC Cross-Country (X-C) Team Challenge race, set for 8 a.m. on May 21 at Oak Grove Elementary School in Peachtree City.
Each participating school selects teams of boys and girls to run in races at the fourth- through eighth-grade levels on a 1.86-mile (3,000 meter) cross-country course.
