Starr’s Mill’s varsity baseball team (21-7) swept Winder-Barrow on Wednesday to advance to the Class AAAA quarterfinals. The Panthers won the first game 5-2 and took the second game 4-1.

Starr’s Mill’s varsity baseball team (19-7) took on Chamblee in the opening round of the Class AAAA state playoffs and won 5-3 and 12-4.

Four local baseball teams start title hunt this Friday

The state baseball playoffs will begin Friday and Fayette County will send three teams into the 32 team bracket, while Landmark Christian, last year’s state runners-up in Class A, also start their title quest this Friday.

Local teams sweep sub-region foes, advance to state baseball playoffs

Region 5-AAAA has been broken into sub-regions. The local teams are in 5A-AAAA and teams like Alexander, Villa Rica, Mays and Lithia Springs are in 5B-AAAA. The top four varsity baseball teams from each sub-region met this week with entrance into the state playoffs on the line. The four local teams swept their opponents.
