Will Whitewater win the AAAA baseball championship?
Going to the championship series
Whitewater has been down before (the Wildcats produced a huge comeback in the second round of the state playoffs at Wayne County) so being down to Effingham County three times in the first game of the AAAA semifinals on Monday afternoon (1-0, 3-1 and 4-3) didn’t bother them in the slightest.
Whitewater hosts Effingham County in semifinal doubleheader today
Since the playoffs started with region playoffs on Apr. 27, Whitewater’s varsity baseball team has gone 8-2. They beat Alcovy in the region playoffs in three games, and advanced to the second round of the state playoffs after besting Thomas County Central in three games. Since then, Whitewater (25-7) has been perfect, knocking out previously undefeated Wayne County in two games (4-3 and 7-3) and Pope (10-5, 6-4), both on the road.
Today, the Wildcats are back home and a series win over Effingham County puts them in the AAAA state final on Saturday.

Whitewater’s varsity baseball team beat Thomas County Central in three games last Friday and Saturday and advanced to the second round of the AAAA playoffs.
Stealth wins Longball Classic
The Georgia Academy Stealth won the USSSA Longball Classic NIT Baseball Tournament 13U AAA Championship on May 1. The team is currently ranked 2nd in the state and 12th in the nation by USSSA. The Panthers (13-11, 7-5 region) traveled to meet Jones County in the region 3-AAAA playoffs on Wednesday. They lost the first game 3-1 and lost the second game 18-8.
