McIntosh graduate Smithley wins Winter Flurry Series at AMS

Garrett Smithley of Peachtree City recently clinched the Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS) Winter Flurry Semi-Pro Championship in his #43 Legend race car. The winter series was comprised of two 1.8 mile road course races that traversed the in-field from turn #1, winding back to the start/finish line via pit road and four 1/2 mile races on the AMS “Thunder Ring.”

Fan tips for those attending the races this weekend

Below are some tips that will help ensure fans have a memorable, exciting visit to Atlanta Motor Speedway during the March 2010 Kobalt Tools 500 NASCAR races this weekend.

• Gate Openings – Various gates will be open each day for fans to access the facility. The following is the schedule with opening times and gates available that day: Friday (noon), Saturday (9 a.m.), and Sunday (9 a.m.).

• Important Note: For fans, Atlanta Motor Speedway provides a free shuttle and tram service from all parking lots to each grandstand.

Southern Stock Car Racing returns to Senoia Raceway this Saturday

Full bodied stock cars and open wheel Modifieds from the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s will put on a nostalgia racing spectacular Saturday August 1st when the NVRA - Racing Electronics “Vintage Thunder” Racing Series returns to Senoia Raceway.

The National Vintage Racing Association sanctions the largest touring vintage stock car racing series in the country.
These classic stock cars from the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s will give race fans a look back at the early days of southern stock car racing.

Late Models geared up for season opener March 15

The 2009 season opener at New Senoia Raceway for the Southern Pro Late Model Series is less that a week away and its drivers are gearing up for the inaugural season. Russell Fleeman of Dacula, Georgia is expected to go for his forth touring series championship. Fleeman has  won two championships with the GAS Series and one with the now defunct All American Challenge Series. In addition, TJ Reaid of Acworth, Georgia will be looking to challenge Fleeman for the SPLM Championship coming off his 2008 Rookie of the Year title.

Racing roulette at AMS

After tremendous response a year ago, Racing Roulette returns to Atlanta Motor Speedway in what could result in the lowest-ever ticket prices for the March 8 Kobalt Tools 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Fans will have the opportunity to purchase Kobalt Tools 500 tickets for the price of the winning car number of Sunday’s Daytona 500. Regularly priced at $95, the first 1,000 tickets will be sold with a limit of two per customer at the winning car number starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 16.
