Atlanta.HighSchoolSports.Net goes on the air Friday night at 10:30 pm on MYATL-TV 36. It's a new half hour program with scores, highlights,, features, and interviews. This week’s in-studio guest will be Coach Chip Walker from AAAA State Champion Sandy Creek, who will be available for a live Web chat after his interview

The Georgia High School Football Scoreboard Show presented by NAPA Auto Parts and NAPA AutoCare Centers (Fri., 10-12 midnight) and Hibbett Sports Countdown To Kickoff (Fri., 6-7 pm) hosted by Tommy Palmer will air each week during football season. Wednesday Night Huddle, hosted by Tommy Palmer, airs each week from 6:00-7:00 pm during football season on 18 statewide radio station affiliates. Huddle guests this week include: Head Coaches -- Sid Fritts of Elbert County High School, Mark Ledford of Wilcox County High School, Steve Pennington of Statesboro High School and Milan Turner of Emanuel County Institute. GPB Sports Central
GPB Sports Central airs weekly on Wednesdays at 7:30 pm on Channel 8 and its HD channel. Formerly named "Prep Sports Plus," the show will cover breaking news stories, features, recruiting and polls from around the state. The show will replay Fridays at 11 p.m. with final high school football scores and Saturdays at noon with final scores and game news.
Show Highlights: An interview with GHSA executive director Ralph Swearngin, who spoke about the role of his organization, the growing popularity of high school sports for both boys and girls, the movement of athletes between high schools and the state football championships at the Georgia Dome. Chip Saye of the Georgia High School Football Daily email football newsletter stopped by and talked about the strength of high school football in the state as well as wanting to see the NCAA crack down on colleges recruiting high school athletes at such an early age. Reporter Niki Noto did a story on Carver-Columbus running back Isaiah Crowell, who some say may be the best running back in the state since Herschel Walker while host Gil Tyree did a piece on Diamond DeShields, who led Norcross to a Class AAAAA girls basketball championship as a freshman last season but now is tearing it up on the softball field while Jon Nelson did a story on reigning Class A football champion Wilcox County and their highly ranked quarterback Nick Marshall. GPB Sports Central also takes a look at the high school football polls, features Falcons running back Michael Turner who talked about his days as a high school player and reporter Ashley Mengwasser, a former Buford cheerleader, dressed up in her old uniform and went to the Calhoun game (Buford beat them in last year’s state championship) and came away with an interesting piece. Statewide radio voice Tommy Palmer let’s everyone know what is going on in southern part of the state and feels the best region in Georgia is right there in Class A.
